Moroccan Thobe for Men — Half-Sleeve, Two-Tone, Sfifa Embroidered

A Moroccan thobe is a traditional North African garment for Muslim men — ankle-length, relaxed through the body, with sfifa embroidery hand-run along the chest and collar. Furqanwear's line is cut half-sleeve  in a 50/50 cotton blend, sized XS–3XL, checked in Toronto.

What makes a Moroccan thobe different from other thobes?

Three things: the half-sleeve cut, two-tone colourways, and sfifa embroidery at the chest and collar. Saudi thobes and Emirati thobes are long-sleeved and usually single-colour. The Moroccan is the one built for movement and for heat.

You will also see it called a Moroccan jubba, a khamis, a thawb, or a gandoura depending on where the seller is from. Same garment. The names travel; the cut does not change.

One thing it is not: hooded. If you want the hood, that is a djellaba — long-sleeved, with the traditional pointed qob.

The Moroccan thobe is not for everyone. It is for the man who walks into Jummah and does not apologise for how he looks.

Choose your colourway

Every one carries sfifa. What changes is what the stitching does against the cloth.

Dark tones: the black Moroccan thobe runs tonal, black thread on black cloth, so the detail reads up close rather than across a room. The dark green Moroccan thobe is the evening alternative to black. The navy blue Moroccan thobe reads formal without reading like a uniform.

Two-tone: the navy and white Moroccan thobe and the white and navy Moroccan thobe put the contrast on display.

Earth and light: the oud brown Moroccan thobe and the silver blue Moroccan thobe are the ones that do not look like everyone else's. The green Moroccan thobe holds its colour in full sun. The off-white Moroccan thobe is the softer answer to a plain white thobe.

Is a Moroccan thobe warm enough for winter?

Not on its own. The half-sleeve cut is built for movement and heat, and Canadian winter is neither. It layers well; a long-sleeve underneath sits flat where a 3/4 sleeve bunches at the cuff — but layering is a workaround, not a design.

For cold months, the honest answer is the Moroccan djellaba: long-sleeved, heavier, with the traditional pointed qob hood. Same North African tailoring, built for the season this one isn't.

Wear the thobe indoors through winter. Wear the djellaba out.

We built this because we lived this

Furqanwear was founded in Toronto — one of the most diverse Muslim communities in North America. We saw brothers hesitating at the door. Wearing their thobes only on Eid. Folding themselves smaller in cities that were supposed to be home.

We built this to change that. Just Muslim men, building for Muslim men, in the cities we actually live in.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Moroccan Thobe?
Moroccan Thobe is a traditional North African Islamic garment for men featuring authentic sfifa embroidery, half sleeves and bold two-tone colorways.
What is sfifa embroidery?
Sfifa is traditional Moroccan hand-stitching applied along the neckline, chest, and cuffs of the garment. It's what separates an authentic Moroccan thobe from a generic alternative — each stitch reflects centuries of North African craftsmanship.
What makes the Moroccan Thobe different from other thobes?
Three things — half sleeve design, bold two-tone colorways and authentic sfifa embroidery. No other thobe style offers all three.
What fabric is the Moroccan thobe made from?
Our Moroccan thobes are made from a 50/50 cotton-polyester blend — soft, breathable, wrinkle-resistant, and machine washable. Built for long prayers, all-day wear, and all-weather wear without losing its shape.
What sizes are available for the Moroccan Thobe?
Our Moroccan Thobes are available in XS to 3XL. Not sure which size to pick? DM us on Instagram @furqanwear and we'll help you out.
What makes Furqanwear different from other Moroccan thobe stores?
We're a Toronto-based brand with our own inventory — not a dropshipper pulling from overseas. Every order ships from our Scarborough warehouse, checked before it leaves. Muslim men built this for Muslim men living in the West. That difference shows in every detail.
Is the Moroccan thobe good for Summer?
Yes. The cotton-polyester blend holds cool better than pure cotton. Many brothers layer a thermal underneath for warmth months. The Moroccan thobe is one of the most practical modest garments for any climate — breathable in summer, layerable in winter.
Does the Moroccan thobe come with a hood?
No — the Furqanwear Moroccan thobe is a half-sleeve, open-neck cut with no hood, made for warmer weather and everyday ease. If you want the hooded style — the long-sleeve djellaba with the traditional pointed qob — that lives in our Hooded Djellaba collection, built for cooler months and layering.
Where does Furqanwear ship Moroccan Thobes?
We ship to Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and across Europe — free over $100 (CA/US), $250 AUD/NZD (AU/NZ), and €100 EUR (Europe). Duties included to CA/US/AU/NZ (orders under $1,000). EU orders ship DDU — import VAT, customs duty and the carrier's clearance fee are paid on delivery.
