What's the difference between a thobe and a jubba?
They're the same garment, different names. "Thobe" comes from the Arabic thawb, meaning garment. "Jubba" is a variation more common in South Asia. The cut, the purpose, and the meaning don't change.
Is a thobe the same as a kandura or dishdasha?
Yes. Kandura is the Emirati name. Dishdasha is used in Oman and Kuwait. Different regions, same garment. The Emirati kandura tends to be collarless with a tassel. The Saudi thobe has a structured collar. The cut differs — the category doesn't.
